Global: Installing Firebase extensions with secrets is causing server crashes

Incident began at 2021-10-25 12:49 and ended at 2021-10-25 13:43 (all times are US/Pacific).

The issue with Firebase Extensions has been resolved for all affected users as of Monday, 2021-10-25 13:43 US/Pacific.

Summary: Global: Installing Firebase extensions with secrets is causing server crashes

Description: Mitigation work is currently underway by our engineering team.

The mitigation is expected to complete by Monday, 2021-10-25 13:45 US/Pacific.

We will provide more information by Monday, 2021-10-25 13:45 US/Pacific.

Diagnosis: The issue is limited to installing new extensions that have secrets (ex. elastic, bitly). Already installed and running extensions are unaffected.

Workaround: None at this time.
